Highlighting excellence and celebrating the contribution, skills, innovation, and achievement among those businesses and organisations providing services to their clients and customers (e.g., law, accountancy, consulting, trades, engineering, & education).

The Wanganui Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1885.   Its original objective was to provide information on all matters of interest to the commercial community, to encourage the improvement of technical knowledge and expertise in local business. Its motive was also to test and reward the business community through examinations, business awards, and entertain business visitors in order to promote trade in the district. 

More than 125 years on, the Wanganui Chamber continues to provide networking events, business support, international trade documentation and hosts annual business awards for businesses throughout the Wanganui region. 

In August this year the Wanganui Chamber merged with the Employers Chamber of Commerce Central to form the Wanganui Employers Chamber of Commerce.  The merger has created a strong, respected organisation which provides a comprehensive range of support and services for businesses and employers, including Human Resources and Employment Relations advice, legal representation, Occupational Health & Safety consultancy, recruitment and training as well as the networking events, international trade support and business services the Chamber is traditionally known and valued for.
